Welcome to my website. I provide documentary and photo­journalistic destination wedding photography throughout Florida and World Wide.

I have shot beach, garden, and church weddings throughout Florida (including the Tampa Bay area, Orlando, Fort Myers, Ocala, St. Augustine, Miami, Palm Beach, and The Keys) and have traveled to England, Ukraine, Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Style & Philosophy

While many photographers today describe themselves as "photojournalistic" or "documentary" photographers, it’s not always clear just what those terms mean. In my case, photojournalistic means I capture not only all the traditional important events of a wedding day—but also all the small interactions that make that day a unique experience, while documentary means that I concentrate on telling the story of the entire day. Of course, I can also do all the traditional shots (since often family members want those)—and if you would like to put aside the time, we can also do artistic, fashion-inspired portraits where only the sky is the limit. I’ll have done my job if the final images not only record the day—but allow you to experience the emotions all over again.

Pricing & Availability

I currently have limited availability for the last few months of 2006. For available dates e-mail me at john@johnkantor.com. If I am not available, I will refer you to another great photographer!

Coverage ranges starts at $1000 for an intimate weekday wedding in the Tampa Bay area with packages including substantial album credit starting at $2500. Destination wedding packages usually start at $3500. However, I'm quite flexible, so contact me and we will discuss your needs.

If you are looking for full coverage starting under $1000 in  central Florida, please contact me directly. I have several associates who may be available.

New Associate Photographer & Videographer

I'm pleased to announce that I now have two associates: Darron Jones for photography and Alex Karas for videography. Darron is available as a primary photographer for weddings if I happen to be booked and as an assistant or second photographer for larger weddings. Alex provides very high quality videography services.

Both Darron and Alex have worked with me on several weddings and have shot several on their own. Darron  has a degree in Graphic Design from Florida Metropolitan University, while Alex has degrees in Film from Princeton and in Television Production from the University of South Florida. Bridal Fashion Portrait

A bridal fashion portrait is timeless memory of your wedding day. Put aside an hour or two before your ceremony (or on an earlier day if you are in Central Florida) and we will do some fun, exciting, and creative bridal portraits. $150

DVD Slideshow

A DVD slideshow (in high-resolution for your DVD player so you can watch it on your tv) is one of the best ways to both re-live the highlights and to share them with friends and family. Provide me with the title of your favorite song (perhaps the one from your first dance) and I will custom-design a slideshow for you. $150. (Additional DVDs $10.)

Wedding Story Page

While many couples now create a personal website chronicling the days leading up to the wedding (see the link in the left-hand sidebar under "Shops & Vendors" if you haven't started one yet), I thought it would be nice if newlyweds could have a page custom-designed to showcase a few highlights from the wedding day and to announce it to friends and family who might not have been able to attend. I'll create this page - similar to the featured wedding page of a national wedding magazine - the week following the wedding from a sampling of the highlights and a little personal information - about how you met, for example - that you provide me beforehand.

This page will stay available online for as long as you like, and I'll provide it to you on cd or printed for framing. $150.

Photo Guestbook

A handmade, leather-bound album from Leathercraftsmen, this photo guestbook alternates flush- or mat-mounted shots with lined parchment pages for your guests to sign. Facing images can be any combination of reproduced and retouched heirloom photos (which I do for your) or your en­gagement shots. $350.

Digital Guest Cameras

Providing cameras to the guests is a great way of complementing the photography that I provide. Up until now, however, it meant using poor quality disposable film cameras which provide only a limited number of exposures.

To provide a better solution, I now offer 3 MP digital cameras to be used as guest cameras. I supply up to 10 of these cameras, each providing up to 100 shots, as well as video clip recording - and will not only give you all the images on cd/dvd-rom, but also select the best for posting online. $50 per camera.
